April 8—12, 2021

We are happy to announce our participation in EXPO CHGO ONLINE from April 8 through the 12th featuring highlights of our current exhibition Usual Objects.

EXPO CHGO ONLINE will go live on April 8th at this link. VIP access begins April 8 at 8AM (CST) and for the public at 12PM (CST).

Artists included in our EXPO CHGO ONLINE presentation include Chris BradleyNicole DyerBrendan GetzMadeleine LeplaeMatt LippsLiliana Porter and Amanda Ross-Ho.

The artworks featured in Usual Objects take on the traditional still life genre by updating the very nature of objects in a conceptual framework that mirrors our current pandemic times. This is a showcase for artists to simultaneously examine how a chosen medium can conceptually alter the reality of the subject while becoming a grounding exercise in stability. The inanimate object in artistic form carries messages of potential, transformation, signification and objectivity.

The gallery will also be participating in EXHIBITION Weekend on Friday, April 9th and Saturday, April 10th. This includes by appointment-only available tours of Usual Objects with expanded reservation times. If you’d like to make a reservation to visit the gallery at 900 W. Washington BLVD in the West Loop of Chicago, please visit our reservations page here.

Additionally, we will be hosting a virtual public artist panel for Usual Objects on Friday, April 9 at 5PM CST. This panel will be moderated by Kathryn Kremnitzer from the Art Institute of Chicago and include all participating artists. Topics to be discussed include the art historical influence of still lives in contemporary practices, the value of objects as items of aesthetic virtue and normalcy specific to these pandemic times and additional topics in context with our current exhibition. To join the discussion, please join us here.
