In celebration of two significant milestones in Chicago’s art community, EXPO Chicago’s 10th Anniversary and Carrie Secrist Gallery’s 30th, we are excited to share a special curated presentation of new works by gallery artists in this year’s booth… the consecutive, dynamic installations also revealing the inaugural programming we will be unveiling in our much-anticipated new gallery space in Chicago’s West Town art district, scheduled to open this summer.

Designed by the world-renowned architecture firm of Vinci-Hamp, the expansive, sky-lit double bow truss structure has been divided into two exhibition spaces, connected by a central salon area that will host supplemental programming related to both exhibitions. The east gallery space will house solo presentations of new projects by gallery artists. The adjoining west gallery space will be designated for what we are referring to as our “CSG Salon Series”, a simultaneous series of robust group invitational exhibitions comprised of works by artists, curators, writers, musicians and others within the like-minded community that further explore the art-making processes and conceptual concepts of the solo exhibition in the east gallery space.

While the thematic direction of each salon exhibition slotted in our programming line-up will only be hinted at by the new work of gallery artists in our booth (the exciting lists of participating artists still in varying degrees of development), we are thrilled to soon be sharing truly captivating exchanges between artists and reinvigorated dialogues with their audiences.

Hilma’s Ghost’s upcoming exhibition with the gallery this summer will be the first in our new location. One half of the exhibition space will be devoted to an entirely new body of work by the collaborative and the other half will house a salon exhibition exploring the spiritual and aesthetic functions of abstract painting and geometry in art.

Stephen Eichhorn’s exhibition with the gallery will kick off the fall 2023 season. While his solo exhibition will explore the spiritual and historical ambiguity around the culture of succulents, a simultaneous group exhibition will feature artists who explore the complexity of the contemporary sublime as it intersects with the person­al and the natural.

Andrew Holmquist’s next exhibition in late 2023 will feature a variety of new paintings, drawings and ceramic works. Additionally, there will be a group exhibition of artists exploring a variety of themes found in Holmquist’s works. Namely, how the convergence of abstraction, figuration and landscape can symbolically be underscored by nature.

Anne Lindberg’s forthcoming exhibition will take place in January 2024. This exhibition will be a deep dive into color, or, more specifically, blue – as a material, concept, condition and its relationship to light. Concurrently, there will be a group exhibition featuring artists working in different media who explore color as a muse.
